Christmas

Christmas in Skegness!

By 26th December 2012 No Comments

Like most students I expect, I travelled back home to spend Christmas with my family. I finished work at about 5pm on Friday 21st after staying to try and finish work on Seed’s website. I’ve been setting it all up to have features that will be available when we finally end up getting it released…

After a nice family get together with my girlfriends parents and family on Sunday (which also marked the day that me and my girlfriend had been together for a year and 6 months), I travelled home to make sure I was home in time for Christmas. Thank god this year it wasn’t icy and snowing, last year was a pain to get home. When I did get home last year, we got snow constantly. It’s a shame it hasn’t snowed this year but never mind.

So let’s start this blog with the last of the advent presents like I promised.

Hannah got me these little tea light Love Heart candles. I was hoping they would have been scented like Love Hearts but unfortunately they aren’t. At the moment I can’t light any of them because I don’t have a candle holder for them but I will get one!

PENGUIN BOWLING! This was the last penguin present that I got in my advent calendar and I have to say that Hannah did a very good job with all the variety of penguin presents! When I went to hers on Sunday we thought we would play a few of the different game varieties but she thought it was too easy. We then realised that you’re supposed to stand at least a metre away. Not a few centimeters… (Sorry for the rotation of the picture, just tilt your head until I fix it)

The last present in my 24 day advent calendar! This is a little usb hub robot with blue light up eyes! It’s brilliant! Thankfully it has quite a long cable so I can plug it into the back of my PC as most others I’ve had before have the shortest cable ever that they aren’t useable.

Now to Christmas presents. I will just write a little about each one as I was quite spoilt this year. When you grow up you don’t get as many presents as you used to but that’s all part of growing up!

Christmas isn’t the same without a selection box of chocolate. Even Liqueur Chocolates. These were from my amazing parents, who also bought me some T-Shirts:

They also got me the new Michael McIntyre DVD which was absolutely hilarious. It even has the Christmas Comedy Roadshow episode on it in the Bonuses too! What a laugh he is! Me and my mum are a like in favourite comedians. She absolutely loves watching Michael McIntyre. The only one I can’t turn her over to is Lee Evans. How can you not find him hilarious!? I think even Hannah doesn’t think he’s that funny.

Plus I got some money from them both. As you grow up you get to that point where you don’t need a lot for Christmas. It’s not like you need toys like when you were a little boy. Unless you still haven’t grown up 😉

These next presents were from my girlfriends parents.

Space Invaders goodies. I had a Space Invaders style T Shirt once, but I think I out grew it while I was at University. Now I have a new one and a bath set to match!

They also bought me something that both me and my girlfriend will enjoy. A DOCTOR WHO PUZZLE! Hannah bought a puzzle a few months back and we enjoyed doing it so much together, that we got more! Well this is two awesome things combined into one. My dad wanted it when he saw it…

And now onto the presents from Hannah. She handmade two gift for me this year. A penguin beanie hat:

When I first unwrapped it, my first impression was “OMG A PENGUIN HAT” then it went to “Is this going to fit…”. I have quite a big head… But it did fit and I love it. I took a picture of me wearing it for Hannah but unfortunately I couldn’t get a good angle which had my face and the hat in while I was smiling. So I ended up taking a very creepy picture of myself with the hat on smiling from an angle that looks like I’m going to murder someone. I also haven’t been able to have a shave for a while because I lost the connector for the plug for my electric shaver and I don’t think I can go back to a manual hand shaver.

So there I am in all my creepiness. The other gift was something that Hannah kept saying she had never done before and it could possibly break so I should be careful with it. Well I didn’t know what to expect, but when I opened it I thought it was definitely me.

Untitled

She made me these keyboard picture frames from old keyboards that were being thrown out. They came up very well and I know the perfect pictures for them when I eventually get them printed.

Hannah also got me a penguin tie and tie rack!

Untitled

I won’t be throwing my ties on the floor anymore. The tie is still in it’s wrapper but I think you can see the penguins skiing on it! I will be wearing that to work!

Untitled

I also got a penguin T Shirt! She definitely knows by now that I like penguins. It’s been a very penguin Christmas.

Untitled

To go with my Marvel pen that I got with my advent calendar, I have a Marvel mug and coaster set. Many coffees will be drunk from this mug, and many thoughts jotted down onto paper.

Untitled

Hannah also got me the new Lee Mack autobiography. I’ve been a fan of reading autobiographies since my parents got me some for Christmas once. The comedian ones are just the best. I can’t remember exactly, but I think I now have Michael McIntyre’s, Lee Evans’, both of Russell Brand’s and Lee Mack’s but I possibly have more comedian ones that I can’t remember off the top of my head. Each of them as hilarious as each other just dive into the worlds of how they came to fame mixed with their humour. Although Hannah might not be as “into” watching comedians as I am, she does know me well.

Now I think I have gone through every present. I may be wrong on this too, but I have double checked everything and I think that’s all apart from this final one.

Untitled

A PENGUIN ONESIE! I’ve wanted one of these since me and Hannah went to Lincoln Market and we saw someone wearing one in the street! I was tempted to ask them where they got it from so I could buy one myself but I thought I’d leave it and I might end up finding one. Well I did, in my presents from Hannah! It’s so warm. I haven’t been out of it much since I got home. Hannah made me open it on Sunday when I was at hers so that she could see me open a present. The look on my face!

Well I believe that’s everything wrapped up into a nice Christmassy blog post. I hope that everyone is having an amazing festive season and had an amazing Christmas Day (watching Doctor Who as that was the only good piece of TV). Christmas is never the same if you aren’t spending it with family, and I am enjoying spending it with the most amazing parents in the world who I’m sure are happy to have me home for Christmas too.

I don’t think I will be blogging now until the new year so to everyone who reads my blog and anyone who has just stumbled upon it by accident, I wish you all a Happy New Year and make sure to eat lots of unhealthy food and get drunk (unless you’re too young then just drink lots of fizzy pop)!
